What Is VASERlipo?
There are numerous liposuction techniques, including traditional tumescent liposuction that requires a surgeon to vigorously break up fatty tissue with a thin tube called a cannula. VASERlipo is a minimally invasive technique that is gentler because it uses ultrasonic vibration to disrupt and dislodge fat cells from surrounding tissues and blood vessels.
Not only does this result in less bruising, but VASERlipo also targets fat cells with more precision—leading to the removal of more fat in specific areas, maximizing definition. That means more dramatic, lasting, and natural-looking results for patients. Dr. Camp can customize the treatments by adjusting the size of the cannula used and the amount of ultrasound energy delivered.
VASERlipo reduces fat by releasing it with ultrasonic energy. This is especially effective for fibrous fat that can be more difficult to remove than subcutaneous fat. What Is Renuvion?
The search for effective, nonsurgical skin tightening treatments is one that plastic surgeons have pursued for decades. Until relatively recently, surgically removing skin was really the only option for patients. That remains the best path for women and men with significant skin laxity, such as what you may see after pregnancy or other major weight loss.
For patients whose skin is just beginning to show signs of laxity, however, Renuvion is a breakthrough treatment that effectively tightens and rejuvenates the skin from the inside out. Also called J-Plasma, Renuvion is a minimally invasive procedure and an alternative to laser skin tightening treatments. Unlike laser skin tightening, Renuvion heats tissue below the skin’s surface using a unique combination of helium plasma and radiofrequency (RF) energy. This causes the skin to contract and stimulates new collagen production.
During the procedure, Dr. Camp inserts the Renuvion probe through small incisions, which are the same or smaller than liposuction incision sites. The probe delivers a precise stream of helium plasma that safely treats the underside of the skin without overheating or damaging surrounding tissue. This produces both instant skin tightening and stimulates collagen production that enhances the results over time.
Combining VASERlipo With Renuvion

When combining the procedures, Dr. Camp starts by performing liposuction using the VASER device. After inserting the cannula, he gently guides it to deliver the ultrasonic energy that dislodges fat cells. The fat cells are immediately suctioned from the body. After completing the liposuction procedure, he inserts the Renuvion probe using the same incisions made for VASERlipo. Again, he moves the device as it delivers a steady, precise stream of plasma under the skin.
Because both procedures are minimally invasive, little downtime is needed following the treatment. Patients typically experience some minor discomfort that includes tenderness and swelling. Over-the-counter medication is strong enough to manage any pain you might feel. Depending on the size and location of the treatment area, you may need to wear a compression garment to reduce swelling.
