No matter how much concealer you layer on, it can be difficult to disguise eyes that look perpetually tired. Concerns such as wrinkling, under eye bags, and dark circles may persist even when you’re completely rested. If you have tired or heavy-looking eyes, BOTOX Cosmetic and dermal fillers can be an excellent nonsurgical solution.
In this post, I’ll discuss how fillers and BOTOX can give your eye area a lift, helping you look well-rested and wide awake around the clock.
1. Smooth Under Eye Bags
One of the most common eye-related concerns we treat is fat accumulation or migration under the eyes, which causes puffiness, bulges, or bags. We use injections of dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM® to smooth these bulges and correct the aged or worn-out appearance they can cause. By filling the depressions around the bags, we can even out the area to restore a youthful-looking contour.
Filler results may last for a few months to up to 2 years, making this solution temporary. For a longer-lasting improvement, we may perform lower blepharoplasty. This surgical procedure removes and recontours the fatty deposits and tightens the skin under the eyes.
2. Erase Hollows & Dark Circles
Shadows, dark circles, and a hollow appearance under the eyes create a notoriously fatigued look. If you’re genetically prone to this trait, you may appear sleep-deprived or worn out even if you’re completely rested.
Dermal filler injections fill these hollows and raise the skin in the area to create a firm, even under-eye region. This often has a brightening effect, making it a popular approach for men and women who are frustrated by their persistent dark circles.
3. Fade Crow’s Feet
Because the skin around the eyes is so delicate, it’s often one of the first areas to show signs of aging. Crow’s feet around the outer corners of the eyes, create an aged or tired look early on in the aging process.
These and other creases caused by repetitive muscle contractions are known as “dynamic wrinkles,” and they’re exactly what BOTOX is designed to treat. BOTOX is injected into the facial muscles that cause these expression lines, relaxes the muscle and prevents the motion from occurring. This allows the skin to relax and smooth out. 4. Lift a Heavy Brow
A mildly drooping or heavy brow can make you look grumpy and fatigued. A BOTOX “brow lift” relaxes the muscles that pull the brow downward, giving a subtle lift to the eyebrow and helping you look more alert and open-eyed. It’s important to know, however, that the degree of lift you’ll achieve varies with your facial anatomy, muscle strength, and other individual factors.
5. Ease Glabellar Lines
Also called the “11s,” these are the vertical lines that form between the eyebrows, typically as a result of frowning. They can make you appear grumpy, tired, or worried. BOTOX can treat these lines in the same way it treats crow’s feet. Precise injections relax strategically selected muscles in the upper face, reducing these lines while still being able to create facial expressions.
