One of my favorite laser treatments is Sciton BAREit® laser hair removal. Not only is it effective at removing unwanted hair from the face, underarms, forearms, legs, or back, but it can be done anytime, and works on all skin types!
In order to ensure that you get the best possible outcome from your laser hair removal treatments, I am sharing my top tips for prepping your skin for treatment.
Prepping for Laser Hair Removal
- Refrain from waxing, tweezing, threading, or use of depilatory creams for 4-6 weeks before treatment to ensure the hair follicle is intact.
- Avoid antibiotics for at least 2 weeks before treatment. Use of antibiotics can increase the risk of photosensitivity reactions.
- Shave the treatment area 1-2 days before the treatment to allow the hair to be in its active growth phase.
- Limit sun exposure for 2 weeks before and after your laser hair removal treatment to reduce the risk of complications.
- Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 for 2 weeks before and after treatment.
- Gently exfoliate the treatment area 1-2 weeks before the treatment to remove dead skin cells.
