What sets Dr. Steven Camp apart from other top board-certified plastic surgeons in Fort Worth, Plano, Arlington, Mansfield, and surrounding Texas communities?

To begin with, few cosmetic plastic surgeons have Dr. Camp’s advanced training, which includes a prestigious aesthetic surgery fellowship under the direction of one of the nation’s leading breast augmentation specialists. This type of fellowship training is rare, even on the national level.

Or, you can look to Dr. Camp’s cosmetic surgery patients—he calls them his #HappyCampers—who are delighted with their results and the personalized attention they receive. There are also the awards from peers and patients, Dr. Camp’s willingness to give back to the community, and the time he spends volunteering for professional associations.

And, of course, there are the bow ties.

Excellence in Education and Training

Dr. Camp earned his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences from Texas A&M University, where he graduated with honors. He then earned his medical degree from the School of Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Science Center before completing a rigorous general surgery residency at the highly respected Carolinas Medical Center.

Following 5 years of surgical training, Dr. Camp completed a prestigious plastic surgery residency at the University of Utah, where he honed his skills in plastic and reconstructive surgery and served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Camp next had a rare and highly coveted opportunity to train under Dr. Daniel C. Mills II, the 2016 president of The Aesthetic Society (formerly ASAPS), through an aesthetic fellowship. This experience was invaluable in helping Dr. Camp refine his surgical techniques in breast augmentation, body contouring, facelift, rhinoplasty, and minimally invasive treatments. It also set him up for success when pursuing board certification through the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Dedication to Ongoing Learning

Dr. Camp has continued his surgical training over the years. He has been to Turkey 3 times to study under Dr. Teoman Dogan, a leading expert in preservation rhinoplasty. Dr. Camp completed advanced training with world-renowned experts to refine his expertise in modern facelift and deep plane facelift techniques. In addition, he has participated in the Total Definer Academy, a series of advanced surgical masterclasses offered by invitation only to the best surgeons from around the world.

These courses are designed to introduce the latest technology and techniques, refine the surgeons’ skills, and enhance functional and aesthetic outcomes. Dr. Camp’s commitment to his craft and staying at the forefront of his field makes him uniquely qualified to achieve your ideal surgical results.

Special Clinical Interests

Given his depth and breadth of training at top institutions and under some of the masters in his discipline, Dr. Camp has the skill in breast, body, and face procedures to make your aesthetic goals a reality. Some of his favorite surgeries to perform include:

Regardless of which procedure you choose, you can be assured that you are in excellent hands with Dr. Camp. Together, you will work to define your aesthetic goals to ensure the best possible results.

We do procedures that many people offer, but no one can match.”

The Camp Plastic Surgery Difference

Dr. Camp and his team set the highest standards for patient care and safety, going above and beyond the “norm” for plastic surgery. He performs surgeries in his own world-class surgery center that boasts two Quad A operating rooms, overnight care, and a state-of-the-art ActivePure air purification system.

In addition, his long-time staff (many of whom have been with Dr. Camp since the very beginning!) provide exceptional continuity of care. Dr. Camp and his team know their patients on a personal level and work seamlessly with one another to deliver the smoothest patient experience.

Then, there are the 4 T’s:

  • Technology
  • Techniques
  • Training
  • Team

Together, these factors combine to create The Camp Plastic Surgery Difference. As Dr. Camp puts it, “Many practices offer standard procedures (like tummy tuck). It’s not what procedures we do, but how we do them” that sets his plastic surgery practice apart.

Expertise In Action

In practice, those 4 T’s look something like this:

Liposuction

Dr. Camp’s global pursuit of excellence has taken him to South America as well. He has trained in Colombia under body contouring expert Dr. Alfredo Hoyos, the creator of High Definition Liposculpture. In addition, he attends yearly masterclasses through Dr. Hoyos’ Total Definer Academy.

Back in Texas, Dr. Camp applies his advanced training with specialty liposuction procedures, including power-assisted liposuction (PAL) and VASER liposuction. He owns multiple types of machines, allowing for superior customization for his patients and tailored treatment plans.

Mommy Makeover

Similarly, Dr. Camp’s mommy makeover procedures offer an unmatched level of breast enhancement. His breast lift patients benefit from the GalaFLEX® internal bra, offering strength, stability, and support to healing tissues.

If his patients choose to add implants (on their own or as part of their breast lift), Dr. Camp uses fat grafting to add soft, natural volume for more refined augmentation results. This is a special combination that isn’t offered by many practices.

What about body contouring? Patients getting a tummy tuck will enjoy a “lipoabdominoplasty,” a combined tummy tuck and liposuction procedure. Dr. Camp also adds Renuvion® skin-tightening to the treatment plan and incorporates Vitamin C and scar lasering as part of patients’ postoperative care.

Facelift

One of Dr. Camp’s signature procedures, the “total facelift” expands the scope of a traditional facelift to include the brow, eyes, lips, and neck as well. His practice is also unique in offering full laser resurfacing in the operating room as part of a facelift.

Dr. Camp has earned a certificate from Sciton® for laser resurfacing and has also trained with nationally and internationally recognized masters in facelift techniques, including Dr. Teoman Dogan in Turkey, Dr. Mike Nayak in St. Louis, Missouri, and Dr. Andrew Jacono in New York.

Rhinoplasty

As mentioned earlier, Dr. Camp has traveled to Turkey numerous times to study and master the “Teorhinoplasty” technique created by Dr. Dogan. This method focuses on functional preservation and precise, personalized aesthetic enhancements.

In addition, Dr. Camp attends the Dallas Rhinoplasty Symposium each year to advance and refine his knowledge and skills in nose surgery.

A Vibrant Professional Life

Dr. Camp’s passion for aesthetic medicine extends beyond his time as the president and CEO of Camp Plastic Surgery. He is a member of several regional, national, and even international societies, including:

He currently serves as the Administration Vice Commissioner for The Aesthetic Society’s AestheticConnect Committee and was chair of the Product Development and Market Research Committee. In addition, Dr. Camp furthers the knowledge in his field through published research. His studies can be found in prestigious academic and professional publications, including Journal of Trauma, Aesthetic Surgery Journal, and Journal of Surgical Research, among others.

Frequently Asked Questions About Plastic Surgeons

What’s the difference between a plastic surgeon and a cosmetic surgeon?

A cosmetic surgeon does not have to have any specialized training in cosmetic surgery. They can be an ob-gyn, dentist, dermatologist, or another type of doctor.

A plastic surgeon must be a licensed doctor with at least 6 years of formal residency training, including at least 3 years dedicated to plastic surgery. To become a board-certified plastic surgeon, they must pass extensive oral and written exams by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only plastic surgery board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).

What plastic surgery is the most common?

The most common plastic surgery procedures vary with societal trends but generally include liposuction, breast augmentation, tummy tuck, rhinoplasty, facelift, and eyelid surgery.

What questions should I ask my plastic surgeon during a consultation?

Your initial consultation is a time to learn about a surgeon and the procedures you are interested in, so asking about their qualifications and experience is key. Here are some questions to get you started: How long have you been a plastic surgeon?

  • What are your qualifications? Can I look over your CV?
  • Are you board certified? By which board?
  • How many procedures like mine have you performed? How often?
  • What type of anesthesia do you use?
  • Where do you perform surgeries?
  • Can I look at before-and-after photos of your patients?
  • Can I talk to patients who have had my procedure?
  • Do you use imaging technology? Why/why not?

For a rewarding experience, be sure to choose a surgeon with whom you have a good rapport and can talk and ask questions openly. Your feelings matter.

Why does board certification matter?

Choosing a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery ensures they have in-depth, specialized training and experience and follow strict safety protocols. Learn more in this blog post.
